Dr. Alonso Bayon

Dr. Bayon graduated in 1997 from the institute of veterinary science, Autonomous University of Baja California. He completed all ECFVG requirements, including proficiently passing the Clinical Proficiency Exam at UC Davis and Oklahoma State schools of veterinary medicine in 2001. He became a US licensed veterinarian in June 2002 and has been actively practicing small animal general practice, and ER-critical care until present.

In his senior year of veterinary school he completed a research project funded by the San Diego Zoo where he screened their galapagos tortoises for diseases, the results were presented during a lecture at a Pan-American Zoo conference.

Then, practiced in two large small animal veterinary hospitals in Mesa and Tempe AZ from June 2002 to Aug 2007. Later, practiced as a full time ER DVM at the Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic from Sept 2007-Oct 2013, where he was also the senior ER Vet and in charge of evaluating the rotating 3rd and 4th year veterinary students from Western School of Veterinary Medicine. Eventually, became Medical Director at the Emergency Pet Clinic of Temecula from Oct 2013 to Aug 2017. Went back to full time general small animal practice at Clinton Keith Vet Hosp from Aug 2017 to Sept 2018.

Currently, a full time Veterinarian at South Bay Veterinary Hospital from Sept 2018 to present. Over the years, he has actively done multiple relief shifts at different emergency hospitals (Crossroads Pet Emergency in Norwalk and Huntington Beach CA, VCA Aacacia animal hospital in Corona CA, Norco animal hospital in Norco CA, VCA animal emergency in Indio CA) as well as relief shifts for multiple day hospitals.

He enjoys all aspects of the profession, from client communication to assuring pet owner confidence, loyalty and respect. As well as, the overall dynamics of working with paraprofessionals, but mainly managing medical and surgical cases, from simple skin cases to serious medical and surgical emergencies.

In his spare time, he enjoys road cycling, mountain biking, carpentry and adventure trips that involve wildlife.
